Senior Research Engineer
- Professor, Precourt Institute of Energy Efficiency at Stanford
- Previously director of research for EMBARQ, the World Resources Institute (WRI) Center for Sustainable Transport which he helped found in April 2002, and remains as Embarq Fellow
- Experience also includes six years as a visiting scientist at the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris (1995-2001) and staff senior scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory for 20 years
- Recipient of the Royal Medal of HM Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and a small share of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his work with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
- Ph.D. in astrophysics and BA in music from the University of California, Berkeley
