Terry Higgins

  • Previously worked 14 years with the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA), where he served as technical director, responsible for coordination and development of industry policies on refining and fuel quality.
  • Also held positions in private sector energy and environmental consulting (the U.S. Department of Energy, Amerada Hess and Texaco) – in all of these capacities he has been involved in analysis of refining and crude oil and refined products markets.
  • Primary contributor to Hart's World Refining and Fuels Service and oversees crude and refined product, refining facility, product quality initiatives data and forecast systems supporting the service.
  • BA in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

Michael (Mike) Leister

Mike Leister has a MS in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from Virginia Tech.  He has worked for Marathon Oil, Marathon Ashland Petroleum, and now Marathon Petroleum Company for 27 years.  Mike has been involved in Refinery modeling, computer automation and process control and supply and maintenance systems.  He has been an IT manager, an Operations Planning Manager and is currently the Manager of Fuels Technology for MPC.  Mike is currently president of the board of the Coordinating Research Council.  He chairs the American Petroleum Institute Fuels Committee, is a member of the API Economics work group, and belongs to the National Petrochemical and Refining Association Fuels Advisory subcommittee.  He is also currently the leader of the API Diesel Issues work group.

  • Led a multi-year, global transformation program for a ~$2-billion revenue relief and development NGO. The team’s efforts were recognized by Booz & Company as a Professional Excellence Award finalist, the firm’s highest award for client service.
  • Led multiple West Coast integrated refining, supply and trading, logistics and marketing strategies as the market evolved over the past decade from changes in supply/demand balances, carbon and clean fuels regulations, mergers and acquisitions, portfolio shifts, and global refining capacity expansion. Developed and led client’s leadership team through a scenario-based exploration of possible shifts and financial implications under different strategic alternatives
  • BA in accounting from Southern Methodist University and MBA in management from Northwestern University.
